Journalism

I really love writing, not this kind of writing really. This is just for fun, so it isn't perfected. I love real journalism. Lisa Ling is probably one of my favorites. She does television shows that are interesting and important but she can still do more light hearted stuff as well.

Journalism has been on my list of careers forever. I think I'm just scared to go after it because it is a competitive field. It is part luck too. I read online articles and magazine; a lot of writers aren't good. I need an edge, so I am currently figuring out what that edge could be. I'm thinking languages. I really want to learn Spanish, French and Italian. I figure that this is the easiest road to take since I took French and Spanish in high school and all three of these are romance languages. I need to get started though. Learning languages is a difficult task and in all honesty after a certain age it goes from hard to nearly impossible. I know adding in German would be smart, but it has different rules so it may be too hard to get down four other languages. I think I might just major in Journalism/English and French. Meanwhile I can take classes for Spanish and then just learn the Italian on my own. I have high goals, so it isn't going to be easy.

Like I said, I need an edge; not just for the US, but I want to travel and possibly live in a different country and no one will hire an American unless they have qualifications that someone from their country doesn't. I figure if I am multilingual then that gives me something extra that not everyone has. Also I could write for a British, American or even Canadian magazine (online or paper). My goal is definitely to go to a big city. I'm not a rural or even suburb kind of person. I like busy. People complain about noisy streets or being crammed together, that stuff doesn't bother me. I used to sleep in a room right by a major road and trust me, after a while it becomes soothing to hear the cars on the pavement.

I've been trying to figure out where I want to go; vacation, school and career wise. I have a long list of cities I am dying to visit. The first three are New York,Paris and London. I am obsessed with all three. I need to get moving on these things as soon as possible. The first step is to get my education together. In the meantime I can start some kind of online blog, not this one of course, but a more professional one. I want to combine my passions of culture, sports and travel together. I don't follow the typical sports that are popular in the US. I love tennis and volleyball. I know all about tennis, but am just starting to learn more about volleyball. My favorite thing is how different they are. Tennis is a 10.5 month out of 12 month calendar sport. These players are constantly on the go, which means journalists who write about tennis travel everywhere. Volleyball doesn't have quite the schedule, but it is a world sport. I love that about both of these sports. They have fans in Asia, Europe, both Americas, Africa and Australia. I would love to be able to write about these sports as well as the locations the athletes are playing at. DREAM JOB!

Well, that is it for now.

It's All About Where You're Going

So, I am obsessed with other cultures. I honestly can't wait till I figure my life out more so I can travel to Europe and visit all the places I've dreamed of going. I wouldn't mind moving over there. Who knows. I was bored today, so I decided to create a pie chart of my mixed nationalities. I'll post it.

Pretty cool, eh? If I could I would add more Spanish, French and Cherokee. If I got to choose a whole new nationality to add it'd be Italian. I love the Italian culture, so that'd be amazing. You can make one too, just ask your parents for their make-up and add them together. I had to use a family tree, but not everyone is as mixed as I am. My Great Grandparents kind of broke the rules when they married. She was Spanish and he was Irish/English. They weren't supposed to marry because her family wanted her to marry into the Spanish community. Rebels! They ran off and got married. Love is love is love. Try getting in its way and you will get burned.

Olympic Love

So, I was really negative lately. I didn't like any of my posts, so I deleted them... most of them. I kept the cool and jazzy pop-culture stuff as well as my first amazing post. Onward and upward!

So the Olympics started a week or so ago! I love the Olympics! I've been obsessed with the winter my whole life and the summer since 2000. I'm not the type of person to only support their country, so I cheer for whomever I want. More on that later. The Opening Ceremonies were so awesome. I'm an Anglophile and a Francophile... so I was in heaven. (*Note: I am in love with most of Western Europe.) The whole ceremony was amazing. I need to download it and watch it again. Honestly I want to see the countries walk in again. I love assessing their uniforms. The Brits won that; gold and white... classy!

I'm not athletic at all, but I do love sports. I fell in love with tennis about 12 years ago and I have been a diehard fan for about 3 or 4 years. I have my favorite male, female and doubles players and I was so excited to see them compete. On the guys side I love Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray, Rafa Nadal and various other players. Roger Federer is my enemy. He is cocky. Anyways... Nadal was hurt and couldn't play and Novak lost in the Bronze medal match. The winner was Murray who won in his own country, which is amazing! I shall post on tennis another time, maybe during the US Open.

So, like I said I don't always just cheer for the USA, I love too many places just to focus on America. 1) I fucking love Canada. I can sing that national anthem with out even looking at the words. I blame my Dad for having me watch so much hockey; which I love. 2) BRITS! I adore the Brits. No one is perfect... I mean the US is incredibly fucked up. I cheered so hard for Murray. I was honestly short of breath. He has been waiting to win something and prove everyone wrong and he finally did by winning a Gold in singles and a Silver in Mixed Dubs. Oh I also fell madly in love with the British Volleyball Team. They didn't win a single set, but they had so much heart and are a young team. I can't wait to see them play more. 3) Just because you are from the US doesn't mean you are the best, hardest working or most deserving. I prefer to cheer for a good person than a complete dick.

Other than Tennis and Volleyball, I love Gymnastics and Swimming. I took both classes for a quick minute as a kid before I turned into a pain in the ass and quit. I wish I wouldn't have quit swimming. I'm really good at it and love it so much.

That is all for now about the Olympics. I'll add more later.

BLOG ALERT!

I didn't like where this thing was going. It was too negative and whiny. I don't like complaining or being a downer and honestly I think I was having some off weeks. I feel like myself now. However I do back up the statements I deleted about chicks and babies on FB. Chill out ladies. I know you are proud of your babies but I do not need to see them from every god damn angle. Post pictures of your dogs instead. I love animals!

Done for now. I need to figure out what I want this to be. Maybe it'll just be whatever it is... shape itself.
